The Dance Movement Group
The Dance Movement Group ran weekly in Nairn and laterly Kinloss between 2012-2022 as a creative space for children and young people with ASN and Autism to come and be themselves and be with others. It supported a great many young people with a wide range of support needs to grow in confidence and to have lots of fun together. The supporting team included professionals from the fields of dance movement psychotherapy, dance science, social work, and theatre arts.
Over the decade the dance movement group received funding from: Awards for All, Highland Council, Shared Care Scotland, and Children In Need. It was conceived in partnership with Jeni-Lin Knott, a social worker for children and young people with disabilities in the Highlands. It was produced and managed throughout the decade by Dance North Scotland (formerly Bodysurf Scotland).
